Observability Overview

This section provides a comprehensive reference for Prometheus metrics used to monitor system health, performance, and reliability across appliance components.

Metrics

The Metrics Documentation lists all Prometheus metrics emitted by various components. Each metric entry includes its type, collection frequency, labels, and a description. This is useful for:

  • Building dashboards
  • Analyzing component behavior
  • Understanding what instrumentation is available

Firewall Entries

All metrics collected will be sent back to Yellowbrick for support and diagnostic purposes. You may need to adjust your organization's firewall settings to allow for outbound requests to the following URL and port.

https://ingress.metrics.yellowbrickcloud.com:443/rwp

Proxy settings

The sending of metrics back to Yellowbrick will use the configured proxy if one is set. To change the proxy configuration, see Configuring Remote Diagnostics.

Limitations

Metrics upload is only compatible with the following proxy modes:

  • No proxy
  • HTTP proxy without authentication
  • HTTP proxy with digest authentication

Any other proxy modes will result in an attempt to directly upload (i.e. proxy disabled).

Disable Metrics Telemetry

You can choose to not have any metrics data sent back to Yellowbrick by changing the telemetry phonehome settings.
