Azure Deployment Guide for Yellowbrick 6.9.3

This document explains how to deploy Yellowbrick Data Warehouse in an Azure Virtual Network (VNet). Industry-standard software delivery for the cloud is supported through Azure services. This partner solution was created by Yellowbrick Data in collaboration with Microsoft Azure. Partner solutions are automated reference deployments that use Azure Resource Manager templates to deploy key technologies on Azure, following Azure best practices. For more information about Yellowbrick, refer to Yellowbrick Data product overview.

A VNet installation consists of container images and Kubernetes Helm charts that create a Yellowbrick resource group via the use of an Azure Resource Manager (ARM) template (a web-based form). The resource group consists of all of the components that are needed to deploy a standalone Yellowbrick Data Warehouse in the cloud. After you have completed your deployment, the following Azure resources will be created:

  • VNet (if not provided)
  • Multiple roles and policies
  • Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) cluster
  • Azure Blob Storage (ABS) volumes
  • 1 Certificate

Immediately after the deployment, you can connect to the Yellowbrick Manager UI, where you can create your own instances and virtual compute clusters based on supported Azure hardware instance types. Some general use cases for Yellowbrick Data Warehouse are:

  • Run SQL data warehouse workloads at scale
  • Run business-critical enterprise applications that support thousands of users, running ad-hoc queries with high concurrency
  • Off-load complex data analytics workloads to a more cost-effective cloud platform
  • Load and query very large volumes of Blob storage data (or other data sources)
